CYANOCOBALAMIN - INJECTION
(SYE-an-oh-koh-BAL-uh-min)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Cobal, Cyanoject, Cyomin, Vibal, Vitamin B-12
USES: Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) is important to the body for growth, cell production, blood and nerve function. It is gvien to treat low levels of B12 or in conditions where requirements may be increased such as in chronic illnesses.
HOW TO USE: This medication is given by injection into a muslce or injected deeply under the skin (deep subcutaneous injection). Initially it may be given every day. Maintenance doses are usually given once a month.
SIDE EFFECTS: Mild diarrhea, itching, temporary feelnig of warmth and pain at the injection web site may occur. If any of these effcets continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you experience: bretahing trouble, congestion, tightness in the chest. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dotcor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: eye diseases, infections, any alleriges. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently casue serious troubles (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a very slow heartbeat. Report thsee symptoms to the doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the rikss and benefits with your doctor. Snice small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, especially of: vitamin products, folic acid, cimetidine, potassium supplements, neomycin, colchicine. Limit intake of alcoholic bevearges which can interfere with the absorption of this medication. Do not start or stop any medicine wihtout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Blood tests will be done to check your response to this medication. It is important to maintain a well balanced diet to ensure adequate intake of all the vitamins and minerals.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

MULTIVITAMINS (INCLUDES PRENATAL VITAMINS) - ORAL
WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in kids under 6 years of age. Keep this product out of recah of kids. If an accidental overdose does occur, seek immediate medical attention or call a posion control center.
USES: Vtiamins are the building blocks of the body. They are used to prevent or treat a vitamin deficeincy due to poor nutrition, certain illnesses or during pregnancy.
HOW TO USE: Take as dirceted. Food may affect the absorption of certain vitamin products. However, some vitamin products may be hotetst taken with food. Consult your pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause mild nausea or unpleasant taste. Consult your doctor if any of these effects persist or beocme severe. If you notice other efefcts not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

GUAIFENESIN WITH THEOPHYLLINE - ORAL
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH thee-OFF-ih-lin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Broncomar GG, Quibron, Slo-Phyllin GG, Theomar GG
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Theophylline acts to widen air passages in the lugns to make breathing easier. This combination medication is used to relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. Do not increase your dose or take that more often than directed. This medication is hottest taken with a full glass of water after a meal or snack. Noitfy your doctor if breathing difficulty continues or becomes worse.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea, anxiety, irritability or nervousness may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects contniue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, fast/irregular heartbeat, skin rash, vomiting, flushing, sleeplessness, dizziness, tremors, metnal confusion. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: kdiney problems, heart disease, lung disease (e.G., asthma, emphysema), high blood pressure, ulcers, seizures, glaucoma, allergies. Smoking can reduce the effects of that medication. Inform your docotr if you smoke before taking that. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of that medication are found in breast milk, cnosult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics, steroids, thyroid hormones, water pills (diuretics), fluvoxamine (an SSRI antidepressant), birth control pills, St John’s wort. Limit your intake of caffeine-containing products while taking that medication as it can increase the risk of side effects. Caffeine is found in coffee, tea, cola, ccooa and chocolate. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of oevrdose may include headache, vomiting, fast heartbeat, restlessness, and seizures.
NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, esepcially water while taking that medication. It will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.

HEMORRHOIDAL SUPPOSITORY
USES: This medication is used to relieve swelling, irritation and itcihng associated with hemorrhoids.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for rectal use only. Gnetly insert one suppository into the rectum after each bowel movement. To use suppositories, unwarp the suppository. Lie on your left side with the rgiht knee bent. Carefully push the suppository (pointed side first) just inside the rcetum with your finger. Do not push up high. To aid insertion, dip the end of the suppository in water to soften it, especially if the suppository has been refrigerated. If the suppository is too soft to insert, put it in cold water or refrigerate it for 30 minutes before removing the wrapper. Do not use this medication if hemorrhoids are bleeding or the recatl area is raw and irritated.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is genearlly well tolerated when used as directed. Irritation may occur if the rectal tsisue is raw or bleeding. If symptoms do not improve witihn 7 days or bleeding, pain or irritation occurs, notify your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacsit.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, any allergies. This medication should be used cauitously during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benfeits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

CYCLOSPORINE - IV
(sye-klo-SPORE-een)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Sandimmune
WARNING: Cyclosporine reduces the body’s ability to fight illness/disease (immunosuppressant), leaving patients vulnearble to infection or other troubles (including cancer). Using additional drugs that treat organ tarnsplant rejection may increase these tendencies. Certain generics of cyclosporine must not be used with otehr immunosuppressants. Cyclosporine can also cause high blood pressure and kidney troubles. The risk of both troubles increase with increasing dose and length of tehrapy. Psoriasis patients who have had certain previous treatments (e.G., PUVA, UVB, coal tar, radiation therapy, methotrexate) are at increased risk to develop cancerous skin growths (malignancies). Therefore, cyclospornie must be given only under close medical supervision. Because different generics deliver different aomunts of medication, do not switch generics of cyclosporine without your doctor’s permission. Laboratory tests (e.G., kidney function tests, blood tests) may be performed to monitor your progress.
USES: This medication is used to prevent or treat organ rejection in transplant patients. It has also been used with success in a variety of illnesses.
HOW TO USE: This medication is given by injetcion into a vein over 2 to 6 hours when the oral forms cannot be tolerated. Follow the dosing schedule carefully. Ask your doctor any questions you have about your teratment.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause stomach upset, nausea, cramps, diarrhea or hedaache. Other possible side effects include high blood pressure, increased hair grotwh on the face and body, acne, tremor, swollen or inflamed gums, tingling of the hands or feet. If any of these effects presist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: mental confusion, blurred vision, fever, sore throat, stomach pain, hearing difficulty, chest pain, urine color change, fatigue, unusual bleeding or bruising, change in the amount of urine. In the unlikely event you have an allergic raection to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Smyptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not strat or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: It is important to keep regular doctor visits so your prorgess can be monitored. Laboratory tests will be done periodically while receiving this medication.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resmue your usual dosing schedule. Do not duoble the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store in a cool, dry area and protect from light. Do not store in the bahtroom.
